Details are emerging about the 15th edition of the San Sebastián Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum, which will take place from 24 to 26 September 2019.
Each year, the forum welcomes an increasing number of professionals from the film industry related to the documentary genre, who are keen to discover from the experts the latest trends in this field and thus obtain tools that benefit the development and strengthening of new projects.
To do so, the Forum’s organisers have confirmed a powerful panel of Commissioning Editors made up of first-class television companies, sales agents and national and international distributors, who will try to transmit to the selected producers and directors the best elements that will make their documentaries stand out:

During the pitching session on 26 September, at the Kursaal Congress Centre, the project director and producer will have 10 minutes to pitch all their project’s potential and show the teaser to the panel members and the members of the public in attendance. In the afternoon/evening, there will be an agenda of one-to-one meetings of approximately 15-minutes between the Commissioning Editors and the representatives of the presented projects, with the aim of specifying possible collaboration agreements.
The programme will be complemented by the holding of the conference “Viva European Docs! Deepening ties with Latin America”, organised by Europa Creativa Desk MEDIA Euskadi in collaboration with Desk MEDIA of the Netherlands in the context of the San Sebastián Lau Haizetara Documentary Co-Production Forum, coordinated by IBAIA, Association of Independent Audio-Visual Producers of the Basque Country). It will be held on Thursday 26 September, from 16:00 to 18:00 in rooms 8 and 9 of the Kursaal Congress Centre.
The session will tackle documentary co-production between Europe and Latin America. The round table discussion will be led by Constanza Arena, director of the Chilean Film Institute. Also present will be Isabel Arrate, head of the “Bertha Fund” of the IDFA, Katja Draaijer, chair of the DPN – Documentary Producers Netherlands and Itziar García Zubiri, head of production at Arena Comunicación (Navarra). Throughout the conference, a case study will be presented of “Tanja”, a documentary co-produced between Colombia and the Netherlands from its producer Katja Draaijer.
