THE PROJECT HORI, LEARN TO LIVE AFTER DAESH WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE FORTHCOMING EDITION OF THE SAN SEBASTIÁN LAU HAIZETARA DOCUMENTARY CO-PRODUCTION FORUM

As a result of the collaboration agreement that the LAU HAIZETARA Forum of San Sebastián maintains with FIPADOC (International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes of Biarritz), the documentary HORI, LEARN TO LIVE AFTER DAESH has been chosen to participate in the forthcoming edition of the Lau Haizetara Forum in September 2023, within the framework of the San Sebastián Film Festival.

Produced by Éric Quintin (France), with co-production by Richard Djoudi and under the direction of Chris Ruby, this documentary stood out among the 24 projects presented in the “Pitchs Internationaux” section of the current edition of FIPADOC Biarritz (20-28 January 2023) for its potential, universality and for telling a previously untold story. It recounts the story of a group of teenagers brought up within ISIS who currently live in the Hori Centre in the Syrian part of Kurdistan. They want to return to a normal life, but they have all been forgotten by their home countries. Will their hopes for the future ever become a reality?

The selected project will participate in the workshops which will be held over two intense days prior to the forum, and will then be included in the pitching session. It will be given the appropriate tools to perfect both the pitching and the One-to-One meetings held between the producer(s) and agent(s) from the international audiovisual industry (representatives of television operators and online platforms, sales agents, distributors and institutions). It will also compete for the IBAIA -ELKARGI Award, valued at €5,000 for the producer.

The continuation of this alliance will boost the presence of projects in two different complementary and specialised markets for the documentary genre, and thus promote the completion of the development and financing process.
