After the committee’s evaluation, 14 projects have been chosen to participate in the forthcoming edition of the Forum, which, due to the health crisis, will be held virtually between the 22nd and 25th September 2020, within the framework of the 68th San Sebastian Film Festival.
The large number of projects received this year, and their diversity, only serve to show the strength and importance of this forum within the documentary industry, making it a landmark for professionals belonging to the sector. Hailing from France, Spain, Armenian, Peru, Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Zambia, Qatar and Germany, they deal with themes such as history, social conflicts, generational changes and the loss of values, cultural movements and the place of sacrifice within life.

Based, among other things, on creative potential, universality and co-production possibilities, the 14 selected projects will participate in workshops held online over two intensive days prior to the forum, and will later take part in the pitching sessions on 24th and 25th September 2020. They will be given the appropriate tools to perfect both the pitching and the One-to-One meetings held between the producers and agents from the international audiovisual industry (representatives of television operators and online platforms, sales agents, distributors and institutions) who make up the appealing panel at this edition.
As the result of the collaboration agreements between the LAU HAIZETARA Forum of San Sebastián, FIPADOC (International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes of Biarritz) and DocsBarcelona (International Festival of Documentary Cinema) the projects “La Marsellesa de los borrachos” and “Fight” will be present among the selected projects. These films took part in the latest editions of said festivals, respectively.
The selected titles will also compete for the IBAIA Award, valued at €3000 for the producer. The Panel of Commissioning Editors, acting as the jury, will choose the winning project based on their assessment of presentation, originality, treatment and dissemination potential.
Organised by IBAIA and the San Sebastian Film Festival Industry Department, this activity benefits from the collaboration of numerous Basque institutions and organisations whose aim is to promote the audiovisual and film sector.
