THE SAN SEBASTIAN LAU HAIZETARA FORUM WILL AWARD TODAY, A PRIZE TO THE BEST DOCUMENTARY PROJECT PRESENTED

IBAIA, Association of Independent Audio-Visual Producers of the Basque Country, organiser of the event with the collaboration of the Industry Department of the San Sebastian Film Festival, will award today, for the fourth time, the IBAIA prize for the best project presented online during the pitching days on 24 and 25 September.

Worth 3,000 euros, the prize was created to support the development process of quality documentary projects and to galvanise their production, collaboration and initiation. The fourteen selected projects will be assessed and judged by the panel’s Commissioning Editors based on their presentation, professional quality and dissemination potential.

In last year’s edition, the prize was awarded to the project “Samuel and the Light” by Vinícius Girnys (Sendero Filmes, Brazil/-Le-Lokal Production, France).

The name of the winner will be announced at the Awards, which will adapt its format to the current situation this year. It will be held today, 25 September in the afternoon, once the “one-to-one” meetings have finished. Marian Fernández, chair of IBAIA, will be entrusted with awarding the prize.

Also, during this ceremony, the name of the winner of the Treeline Prize for distribution and festivals consultancy will be disclosed. This prize is awarded by the Spanish distribution company Treeline, present at the Forum. Diego Mas Trelles, DocsBarcelona’s head of industry – DOCSBARCELONA and Christian Popp, Head of International Coproduction Forum FIPADOC will also reveal the names of the projects participating in their respective festivals in 2021.
